Wedding dresses are considered to be one of the centerpiece items in a wedding ceremony. This is because a wedding dress on top of all makes a bride standout among the crowd due to its elegant and breathtaking design. Asides from this, wedding dresses also have a deeper meaning with regards to marriage as these have been symbolizing the bride ever since.
The beauty of wedding dresses resides in how it is able to represent the bride in a unique manner during the wedding ceremony. It also adds up to the stunning factor that occurs when the bride is first seen walking down the isle. This is the reason why a wedding dress is highly prioritized in a wedding arrangement checklist.
Generally speaking, the modern world has been used to the white wedding dress which comes from the Western cultures of European countries. However, there are a lot of other cultures that have different variations of wedding dresses in areas like color, design and pattern. These traditional versions of a wedding dress are also as beautiful as the accustomed white bridal dress and at times more interesting since these are not really seen that often.
In the old Western cultures, marriages during and subsequent the medieval era meant more than just a union between a man and a woman. This was due to the fact that they could also be considered as a union between companies, families, businesses or even countries. A lot of weddings during this time were more of a matter of politics especially for the nobles and higher echelon of the society. This has greatly affected the way wedding dresses were made and worn depending on your social status. Usually, Brides coming from the wealthy families wore bridal gowns of exclusive fabrics and rich colors.
Through the years, brides from wealthy families dressed in a manner that reflected their social status, having the highest form of fashion available combined with the most expensive materials that money could buy. On the other hand, the poorest brides wore the best church clothes that they could find on their wedding day.
Nowadays, there are a lot of choices for wedding gowns since there are different price ranges. There has also been a variety of lengths and colors available since the Western traditions have loosened up. Women can now also have the option to either buy ready made gowns, have a dressmaker create one or wear a family heirloom. Also, the bridal salons today already present samples of the wedding gowns when you visit their store. Because of this you can already select a design that suits your tastes right then and there and just have it customized to fit your size.
For the Asian countries having Eastern culture such as Vietnam, China and India, the traditional bridal dresses are very much affected by the cultural beliefs of the people. The Ao dai which is the traditional bridal dress for Vietnamese women is a perfect example. It is usually in red color which signifies prosperity and good luck for the Vietnamese. The other mentioned countries also share the same line of thinking with regards to the color of their traditional bridal dresses.
However, more women today choose not to follow suit with the customs and traditions of their country or culture since people have a more liberated mindset as compared to before. Instead, they go for customized wedding gowns which will give them a unique appearance as well as represent their own personalities.

Wedding Dresses – Different Cultures, Different Wedding Dresses November 23rd, 2011
Advertise, Advertise, Advertise August 11th, 2011
Many people sign up for affiliate programs with the hopes of making some serious money. They advertise a few places and then wait for the money to start pouring in. When it doesn’t, they blame it on the program and quit.
I am convinced the only way to make money online is to have a consistent Advertising plan. A plan you are willing to work hard on and commit to for a selected period of time. When making this plan, you need to do two things. First, you should pick a few affiliate programs that are of interest to you. Second, you need to decide how long you want to work these programs. Once you decide on a time period (I recommend 6 months to a year), you must make a promise to yourself that you will not stop advertising until that time period is up. This is perhaps the most important factor in your success.
Next, you need to consider your advertising options: traffic exchanges, classified ads, e-mail campaigns, EzineArticles, posting to forums or message boards, chatting with others who are interested in what you have to offer, and posting flyers around your town. Now you see the many possible advertising avenues you can choose from. I recommend doing all of them. It may sound like a lot of work, but when broken down into a plan, it is not.
One possible plan may look like this: Traffic Exchanges-1 hour per day. Post 15 classified ads per day. Make 5 posts to a message board or forum per day. Submit an article once per week to an ezine. Visit chat rooms and distribute flyers as you have extra time during the week. This all can be accomplished by spending 2-3 hours per day. You will be surprised how much you get done when you have a plan. You may also choose whether you will work 5 or 6 days per week. Make a checklist for each day of the week, and mark each task off as you finish it. That will keep you on focus, and will make you feel good that you are one step closer to reaching your goal.
Make a commitment to your new plan and don’t get involved in any other programs until your current programs are making you money consistently. Don’t give up. Sticking with this plan will significantly improve your success. Remember, Advertise, Advertise, Advertise.
Comparing Some of the Big Box Retailers August 31st, 2010
There are small businesses, and there are big businesses, and really big businesses. Some of the biggest companies in today’s global economy are the giant retailers such as Home Depot, Lowe’s, and IKEA, also known as ‘big box stores’. To analyze and compare these three is interesting because both Home Depot, and Lowe’s are U.S.-based, publically traded companies, while IKEA is a European, privately-held company. In the next few paragraphs, we will look at how these companies stack up in terms of size, revenue, international reach, and history.
First, let’s take a look at who is the biggest retailer when measuring by numbers of stores and employees. Through this unit of measurement, Home Depot is the largest of the three with 2,200 stores and over 320,000 employees. Next up is Lowes with over 1,700 store locations and 235,000 employees. IKEA is last in this leg of the analysis, with over 300 stores and 125,000 employees.
In terms of annual revenue, the 3 chains shake up in their overall order a little bit with Lowes stores tallying up a whopping total of $47.2b in 2009, followed by $41.2b in 2009 for the Home Depot stores, and $28.9b in 2009 revenue for IKEA stores.
In terms of International reach, the European-run IKEA stores are by far the farthest reaching, with their retail outlets spanning 37 countries throughout North America, Asia, Europe, and Australia. Of the two American companies, Home Depot stores are located in a few more countries than Lowes stores, boasting retail chains in Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, Mexico, and China in addition to North America. Lowes stores are found strictly is the U.S. and Canada.
As far as which giant has been around for the longest, that title would go to Lowe’s, having been founded in North Wilkesboro, North Carolina back in 1946. IKEA opened their first store in Småland, Sweden in 1958. Home Depot is the youngest of these three, having been founded in 1978 in unincorporated Cobb County, Georgia.
So given how these 3 big box giants measured up in size, revenue, international reach, and history, which store would you consider to be the most significant in today’s economy? It’s certainly a debatable question!
Warning Signs of Divorce in Your Marriage July 17th, 2008
In a marriage, one of the most painful experiences of a wife is to be blindsided by a divorce. Most women would rather ignore the red flags when something is starting to go wrong with their marriage, they never saw it coming, they just refuse to see, so they become loser in a marriage.
Therefore, for the wives who are experiencing troubles in their marriage, here are the common warning signs that tell you when your husband is thinking seriously about divorce.
1. When he puts it into words. When your husband starts mentioning about “not being happy anymore” or he “feels that something is missing”, never ever ignore these words. Yes, it may lessen the pain of you just let it slip away in your memory but this may be his way of telling you that something is seriously wrong in your marriage and its not working out anymore.
2. He starts managing his own affairs. If your husband is starting to leave you out of his plans, then something is really, wrong. He may start planning weekends out without you and may even make new financial accounts on his own. He may not tell you at first, but eventually he may suggest that you do the same.
3. He increases the distance between you. When he starts to spend less time at home and more time elsewhere, then that may imply that he no longer wants to be together. He becomes more emotionally distant – less cuddling, no more intimate talks and pays less attention to your needs. Although couples married for quite a long time may not cuddle as often as before, those who are still committed to their marriage still have intimate moments even occasionally.
So wives, always be sensitive to what your husbands may be telling you. It may not be in the form of words, it may be through actions. So if you sense that something is wrong, then try to talk it out. Sit with him and be brutally honest. Listen to what he is saying. Facing these truths head on and as early as possible will help you save your marriage from divorce before it is too late.
